Sedona was rescued from a livestock auction where she was dumped with fellow broodmare Opal, along with dozens of others from her herd. She was heavily pregnant and ready to deliver. We were initially very worried about her and the baby’s health since she was underweight, malnourished, and suffering from a respiratory infection. However, she waited an extra week to deliver, until she felt safe with us at MSER, where she had access to plentiful food, water, and shelter, and safely delivered a healthy baby colt on May 27th, 2023.

Sedona is very friendly, a sweetheart, loves pets, and attention!

This past spring semester, she has been participating in CSU’s Right Horse program, receiving more consistent work on the ground, where she is easy to handle and has all of her groundwork skills locked in! She is in the beginning stages of being started under Saddle and hopefully will progress toward riding over the next few weeks.

Sedona is currently being treated for Equine Ocular Squamous Cell Carcinoma in a clinical trial at CSU; which has had very promising results so far in reducing the size of the tumors. She does require a strong UV mask to protect her eyes. Despite all she has been through, this sweet lady is ready to find her forever home! 

Sedona is a lovely girl with an easy temperament and will be a rewarding partner for someone!
