Meet Brego!
Status: Available for adoption
Age: 19
Gender: Gelding
Breed: Grade/quarter
Height: 15.3hh
Handler experience needed: Advanced beginner with trainer supervision or intermediate rider
Brego is an absolute sweetheart, if a little forward with his affections. He was named for Aragorn’s horse in the Lord of the Rings. This handsome gentleman was surrendered into our care by an owner in Wyoming just before Christmas of 2021 with minor lameness in a hind pastern. He is our first beneficiary from Tolkien’s Fund.
Brego is a wonderful, easy-going grade gelding. Great to trailer, great for the farrier, no kick, buck, rear, etc. He does have some ringbone in his rear pastern but stays light riding sound with monthly Adequan injections. He knows how to move off the leg, picks up both leads, has a beautiful trot and is great both on the trail and in the arena. His only vices are he can need a firm handler on the ground to prevent him from becoming pushy, and he is a little cinchy.
Brego can be forward so an intermediate rider or confident beginner working with a trainer is recommended. Due to his ringbone, we are also recommending a rider weight limit of 170 lbs. Brego is approximately 19 years old and 15.3 hands tall.
